Meet Town Council Candidate, Simon Bentall

‘KEEPING IT REAL’ Standing for Small Business Owners, Listening to Families needs and Protecting the History of this beautiful area we all call Home - Niagara-on-the-Lake.

I’m the proud owner of the Scottish Loft here in Niagara-on-the-Lake which is run by my family and loyal staff members. I took over the store just over 3 years ago from another family that was running it for over 20 Years! My eldest daughter had been working there for 6 years before we took over.

Before this, my family ran a cottage rental here for over 7 years, so helping small businesses by listening to their needs whatever they are from B&B’s, shops, inns, restaurants etc. I feel this sector is always looked over many times, remember without the hospitality trade Niagara would not be what it is today!

I have qualifications in Retail, Tourism and Catering also, 2 years working with Welland Historical Society.

Why I am running for Council

I have been a resident of Niagara-on-the-Lake now for over 11 years and I love living here with my wife, kids and my first grandchild at the age of 47! It is great for the families and people of all ages but, I really feel that the Council here in Niagara-on-the-Lake needs a breath of fresh air as it has become stagnant with same people being voted in time and time again with broken promises and turning this Town into something it's not.

Being Self Funded with a little help from a dear friend who believes in me, I can't be persuaded/held accountable by extended family or friends who live in the area who are in construction or anything else.
